About Toxic Mold
What is toxic mold?
Toxic mold is one of those invisible toxic infections that you usually don't realize is in the air (literally) until you or your family start to feel sick all the time. Since many people don't even think about mold or know much about black mold, they often attribute the sickness to other things like stress and bad health.
With the symptoms being pretty close to the flu or food poisoning (or both combined) it's easy to think you ate a piece of chicken that wasn't fully cooked or something else made you sick that matches the footprint of the symptoms your experiencing. If you or your children (or friends) are starting to get mysteriously sick and are experiencing nagging headaches you can't get rid of, pain in the chest and a hard time breathing, and nausea induced vomiting- again for no reason you can see right away- then you should take some time to learn about black mold.
Just the awareness of toxic mold will give you a way to look for the problem itself- where the mold spores are originating and if your house is a "sick house" infested with spores and black mold colonies. You can find these colonies (they look like black mold, hence the name) usually near any area where water is constantly being channeled into a wall or wood.
What usually causes the mold to breed and survive is when a water pipe gets a leak in it and starts to consistently put water against a surface that can absorb it over time. When the dry wall rots the mold have taken root. They survive near the water and the best places to look first are under sinks, especially in the bathroom and kitchen.
Sometimes the problem starts inside the walls and is the likely culprit. The problem with that is you can't see it without destroying the wall and reaching behind it to remove the infected areas. The cure is to remove the mold from the home and have the air disinfected- then it's off to the doctor for a checkup and proper medications to help your body to fight off any spores you inhaled, likely for a long time.
There are companies that will go into your home (in what looks like a radiation suit) and can use sensitive equipment to suck in the air and figure out how many parts per million the spores are . They can figure out pretty easily if you do have mold and they can even help you find the source as that's where the spores will be the most concentrated. Home
